I had pretty vague notions about the War of the Roses and a decidedly negative opinion of Richard III thanks to Shakespeare, but I adored Sunne and Splendour. But be warned: Penman's goal in writing the novel was to redeem the historical Richard III from the overshadowing of Shakespeare's fictional portrayal, so the book might leave you decidedly Team Richard!

I will have to check out the Stolen Crown. I became obsessed when I read Shakespeare's Richard III in college. I've read War of the Roses and The Princes in the Tower by Alison Weir and both were wonderful. I'm a little bit in love with her. I also like Jean Plaidy's fiction works on the time period, although I've read more of her Tudor-era books. I'm kind of obsessed with Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn as well. That started back when The Other Boleyn first came out and I obsessively started reading other books on the topic. I think even though I wasn't homeschooled, I tend to operate in unit studies! I even did that as a child because I was a nerd who thought it was fun to create my own outside of school learning schedule. It's a good thing my dad taught me to stick up for myself at a young age! I'll have to check this book out!Lindsey Sparkshttp://lindseysparks.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3298495631546915310.post-56194312899715074442010-09-08T17:33:08.000-04:002010-09-08T17:33:08.000-04:00[...] 8, 2010 by nerdybookgirl I’ve spoken befo...[...] 8, 2010 by nerdybookgirl I’ve spoken before of my childhood obsession with Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots.
