Rest, Relaxation, and Reading

Yay, the 3 R's! Yesterday was an excellent start to my extra time off.

Yesterday my friend Erin picked me up and we headed to Buford. First we went to Barnes and Noble. I had a gift card with about $10 left on it so I bought a cookbook I've been lusting after for ages. The Grit is a cookbook from one of my most favorite restaurants -- The Grit in Athens, Georgia. Next it was off to Noodle Mi for some delicious Pho soup. After that more book lusting and a delicious latte at Borders. I resisted buying CDs at Borders and stuck with my budget. Instead I came home with an adorable recipe book and several book marks.

I was slightly disappointed in the book selection at Barnes and Noble and Borders. Just my usual complaint, not enough classics. I was looking for three books in particular: The Masterpiece by Emile Zola, Trilby by George Du Maurier, and A Place of Greater Safety by Hilary Mantel. I hate ordering online, but for these books I'm afraid I'm going to have to resort to online purchasing.

Today my grand plans include enjoying the sunshine and walking up to the city square. A pedicure, a crepe and salad lunch, and reading at the coffee shop are the best way to spend a day off.

I'm trying to enjoy my time off and ignore this painful, swollen ear that constantly throbs. I have a doctor appointment on Monday, so I'm trying to hold on until then. Sunshine, pampering, food, coffee, and books will be the perfect medicine!

I like supporting local bookstores, but I have to order online so often...so much of what I want just isn't available at bookstores.

Hope you feel better soon!
