Bun in the Oven

There's a Bun in the Oven.

Yup, I'm pregnant.  I'm about 4-5 weeks along.  I know I should wait until 8 weeks, but I can't contain all the joy I feel right now.  My Twitter has been oddly silent and I was wonderfully distracted when writing my Sunday Salon post.  I was going to keep the announcement hush-hush on the blog for a bit, but then yesterday something happened.

I tried baking scones in the morning.  The normally delightful smell of early morning baking seemed to curdle in my nose.  Periodically I would open the oven door, dash upstairs, and wait to throw-up.  Then I realized that I was never going to actually puke.  After doing this 3 times my scones were a strange rubbery consistency.  I threw them a away, sat on the floor with a pack of Ritz crackers and cried.  It was pathetic and only lasted 5 minutes and then I was fine.  The entire time I kept thinking:  "I should blog about this."

I realized that there was no way I could not blog about things of a preggo nature until April.  I've taken two tests and my boobs feel like I slammed them in a door.  I'm most certainly pregnant.

Hope is wonderfully excited.  She keeps giving me bits of granola bars for the Baby and is helping me around the house.  Then she says things that she means in an encouraging way, like:  "now you don't have to worry about your fat, you are going to get super huge anyways."

I'm about to curl up with a book and relax.  We are having a snow day and I've plans to make Chicken Noodle Soup and watch movies with Hope.  Maybe I'll even attempt afternoon baking.

Hi, Amanda. I believe this is the first time I've commented on your blog. (If not, please forgive me for forgetting, because I've been lurking on a lot of new-for-me blogs lately, and I get confused.) But I figured this was as good a first comment as any.

Congratulations!

My Beloved would tell you an hour's worth of stories. I'll just say, what you describe brings back exciting memories. (But then again, you probably have your own stories to tell, as this is not your first time.)

So many of my friends are also pregnant, I almost feel left out. :-)

Best wishes,
-TimK

When I saw the title of your post, for a second I was expecting you to start talking about baking bread! Geez, I've never been too good at remembering expressions. :)

Anyways, congratulations!
