Thankfully Reading Weekend, 2011 Edition

Today I was glancing at my reading goals.  Yikes.  Once again I've thrown in the towel on most of my reading challenges.*  But I'm still clinging to my goal of reading 52 books this year.  I've read 33 and there are only 46 days left in the year.  Okay.  Reality check.  I'm certainly  not going to read the other 19 books.  Sigh.

Okay.  New goal time.  I'd like to read at least 12 more books.  Ambitious if you look at my monthly reading rate, but not so ambitious when you consider that I have 1) a week of vacation next week and 2) two weeks off in December.  Also, Atticus is finally sleeping through the night (shhhhhh.... I don't want to jinx it) and he is at the age where he will play on the floor and let me read for a least a little bit.

Luckily, Jenn over at Jenn's Bookshelves is hosting a Thankfully Reading Weekend.  Next weekend, Fri 11/25 to Sun 11/27 I'll be trying my best to read the weekend away.  My other goal is to only read from my pile of books in the bedroom.  We'll call it TBR pile (lots of library books and few things in progress).  I'll be choosing my reads from this stack:
  • Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel (I'm about half-way through this one)
  • The Distant Hours by Kate Morton (library book)
  • Locke and Key volumes 2 and 3 by Joe Hill (library books)
  • Excellent Women by Barbara Pym
  • Romancing Miss Bronte by Julie Gael (library book)
  • Flapper: A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity and the Women who Made America Modern by Joshua Zeitz (library book)
  • The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (library book)
  • The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters
  • Fables #14:  Witches by Bill Willingham (interlibrary loan book)
  • Hugh and Bess by Susan Higginbotham  (interlibrary loan book)
  • The Shadow in the North by Philip Pullman  (library book)
Okay, sounds like a plan.  I'm ready to read!

*Of course in a very bookish and nerdy manner I've already planned and revamped my reading challenge management for next year.  nerd snooooorrrrrtttttt

You're a little ahead of me for the year, but I think we're pretty representative of moms with kids in Atticus's and Greyson's age group! lol

Greyson usually wants me involved in whatever he's doing, but I do like taking advantage of some of those playtime moments.

Atticus will be uber clingy one day and want nothing to do with me the next. Temperamental little booger!
