Weekend Update

Now that I've cut off the Internet at the house, I've found that my blogging -- or at least my desire to blog -- has significantly increased. I think this is because I've been coming to the coffee house to blog and I actually do blog when I'm here. At home I had a tendency to get distracted by stupid online games, MySpace voyeurism, and getting freaking out by reading news stories about babies in microwaves and other horrors. Now, when I show up at the coffee house I spend my time more "productively" (if you call blogging productive).

I've had a busy weekend, full of interestingness.

On Friday, I worked a split shift. I started my day at 7:30 a.m. and left at 12:30 p.m. I spent my lunch break getting together centerpieces for my Grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary party. My mom asked me at noon to handle centerpieces and I had it together by 3 p.m. Damn I'm good. I found some small, clear, purple vases at Big Lots for .88 cents, grabbed some yellow ribbon for $1, and snagged a bouquet of flowers from Publix for $12. Voila! For less than $20 I made four kick-ass centerpieces.

Friday night after work I went home and showered and then met Inky Darcy at Starbucks. We were both pretty bummed about not getting to go to Dragon*Con, but we had fun anyways shopping at Best Buy, munching on subs, hanging out with his neighbors, and watching anime. Okay, well he had fun watching anime. I like anime okay, but Inky Darcy has a geek-obsession with anime and practically creams himself in the anime aisle at Best Buy.

On Saturday, Inky went to my parents home for the first time and met my entire extended family (on mom's side of the family). He didn't have a heart attack from trepidation, but fit in really well and everyone likes him. And the food was good. I think we were both freaked out by the end of the day because EVERYONE cornered each of us at some point in the day to interrogate about wedding plans. It is a bit disconcerting to have 23 people ask you in one day when you are going to get hitched and then point out that my Uncle Chris is a preacher and could marry us straight away.

Of course then that makes me wonder if we should set a date yet. After all, I can't do ANY planning really until I have a date and location. Then again, I like not having the pressure of getting married right now. We can spend our time discussing the important issues like new Transformers vs. Old Transformers, or Batman, or Dinosaurs, as opposed to things like flowers and attendants and other wedding details. Life is short, nerd hard is my motto.

After the shindig at my parents', we went to the tattoo shop. Inky showed me his ideas for the rest of my zombie librarian and he started drawing me owls for my leg and a Sylvia Plath tattoo of an oven (har har har).

We left the shop just before midnight to head home. As soon as Inky left for his house I fell asleep.

Today I've been a bum; laid around the house, ate a sandwich, finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and currently mass-consuming coffee.

Tonight I'm going to organize my craft area! Hooray!

I hope everyone else had a spectacular weekend.
