Ambitious Much?

John James the Owl is posing with my overly ambitious September reading pile. There are seven books here and my goal is to read at least five of them. I've started with a non-fiction read that I may count for my R.I.P challenge; The Devil in the White City. I also have several other books for R.I.P, The Hound of Baskervilles, The House at Riverton, and The Dark Clue. Next is Green Darkness and Ex-Libris for some kick-ass historical fiction. Finally, I want to start Little Dorrit which will be my big classic read for the autumn.

I've become a bit of a recluse lately, work has been so hectic (1 library, 5 librarians, 2 assistants, and 86 hours of service a week) that I find myself craving huge mugs of coffee, silence, dripping rain, and thick books. Seriously, I don't answer my phone anymore; Facebook me and I'll contact you when I emerge from my solitude refreshed and rejuvenated.

However I will be busy this weekend. A casual family cookout on Saturday, friends over for dinner on Sunday, and a larger family cookout on Monday. Expect many baking posts in the near future. Of course, this weekend of joviality will only commence if we all evade the swine flu. Fingers crossed, folks.

What a fun picture!

I go through 'my phone does not exist' phases too. I think it's good to take time to decompress. :)

Awesome pile! I want to steal it :P

And I think we all need our hermit moments.

Dream big! I can speak for at least one of the books--The House at Riverton may be a bit chunky but it reads pretty fast once you get into it! They all look good, though. Enjoy!

Stop influencing my reading! Jon has a copy of Devil in the White City on his night stand (he read it a couple of years ago) so I had to pick it up... now I'm engrossed.

Can't wait to see all of the reviews!

Eva -- I think "my phone does not exist" phases are common among book nerds!

Nymeth -- I always want to steal your reading piles!

Danielle -- I will enjoy the books.

Traci -- My goal is to finish Devil in the White City tonight; I've got less than 100 pages left.
