Unfortunately, I didn't really see anything really exciting. I rushed to the new book book section, and was disappointed. All the rows of shelves that use to house dozens and dozens of new books are sadly empty. Last fall the book budget for the public library was cut in half. I know there is nothing the library can do to change this, but it is still disappointing. I milled around the stacks for a bit and the only thing that caught my interest was a collection of short stories by Daphne Du Maurier, Don't Look Now. I decided to grab some books I've checked out before, but had to return before I could read them. First up I grabbed a mystery that looked intriguing, Hangman Blind by Cassandra Clark. It features a sleuthing, Medieval, nun! The second book I checked out is Isolde by Rosalind Miles. This book is the first in a trilogy and I really wanted to read it. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to explore this book -- and the following books -- before time to turn them in.
I spent a lovely afternoon reading The Hobbit and this evening we met with the minister to pick out wedding vows. Things are getting really excited around here and I can't wait for Saturday! Expect more wedding updates as the time approaches!

I must confess that I don't often just browse the shelves. Normally I have everything already requested and just rush in and rush out again.
Yay for wedding updates! And can't wait to read what you think of Isolde. I loved Miles's non-fic, and I had some issues with her Guinevere trilogy, but Isolde looks very promising.
Boo to a bare library (although like Marg, I rarely browse, unless I only have a couple holds available). But "Don't Look Now" is a really creep story! :)
Don't Look Now is one of my very favorite DDM stories--her stories are excellent if you've never read them before. And the film they made by the same name is also really good! Enjoy!
