The move has gone fairly well. Hope's bedroom, the living room, and the dining room are done. My room and the bathroom are nearly done. I've the kitchen and laundry room to clean and unpack today and Sam is hard at work fixing up his "man cave." The craft lair will be organized by the end of the week (hopefully).
I spent most of yesterday morning organizing the books. You can't imagine how badly I felt watching my dad, Sam, and a group of friends hauling in copier paper boxes full of books. I'm still not allowed to lift anything since I had earlier pregnancy problems. I watched as Hardy and Gaskell and Dickens and so many Viragos trickled in. I held off on the organizing and shelving until yesterday and then my wee bookish heart leaped with joy when I had a chance sort all the books.
Here's the breakdown:
Fiction and short story anthologies:
My owl menagerie,Viragos, Persephones, NYRBs, and non-fiction:
Okay, my Persephones and NYRBs are baby collections; hopefully they'll be growing this summer:

Sorry the top two photos are so blurry. I also forgot to take a picture of my tiny bookshelf in the bedroom. On the top shelf it has books on my TBR pile and the bottom shelf has library books.
The house really feels like home now that I have my books up. I simply can't understand folks who don't have books and bookshelves; it makes a home look naked and lacking.
Alright folks, that's enough for now. I'm off to finish unpacking the kitchen and then I'll spend the evening gazing at my bookshelves.

Wow! I can't wait to see more pictures. The apartment looks lovely so far.
I meant to tell you that Jon organized my books by spine color recently. Not very logical, but aesthetically pleasing...
Oh gosh! It sounds like quite an operation. Good luck!
Amanda, how exciting. As I write this there are about 26 boxes of books waiting to be moved to our new place. Like you, I can't wait to break those books out on the other end.
We're also moving this week, nearly finished. Before the movers arrived we counted up the boxes of books, CDs, and DVDs, and there were about 100!! (though they were smallish boxes, can't pack to heavy).
I'm very jealous of your collection of Persephones and Viragos! I have several in my to-read box, and I hope to start soon. An addictive habit!
glad to hear things are shaping up for you!
Traci-- I hope to have some pictures up by Friday.
Hannah and Diane --Thanks!
Thomas and Karen -- I think it is amazing how many books I actually have. It doesn't seem like much until they are boxes galore.
It all looks good! My own collection of Viragos is also small, but hopefully will grow soon.
