Readathon: Hour 3

So I said I was starting the Readathon early --- I lied.  I did my morning post early and settled on the couch with The Sunne in Splendour.  Then I promptly fell asleep.  I'm totally blaming pregnancy for this one.  I woke up around 8:30 (or a half of an hour after the readathon officially started), made a cup of cocoa, and then truly began reading. Sigh.

  • Title of book(s) read since last update:The Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Kay Penman

  • Number of books read since you started: still working on the first one.

  • Pages read since last update: 53 (Penman is a slow, but satisfying read)

  • Running total of pages read since you started: 53

  • Amount of time spent reading since last update: 1 hour and 30 minutes

  • Running total of time spent reading since you started:  1 hour and 30 minutes

  • Mini-challenges completed: about to complete the first one

  • Other participants you’ve visited: no one, I'm saving my visits when my eyes need a break

  • Prize you’ve won: zip

Now, time for a mini-challenge.  This mini-challenge is from the first hour of readathon:

  • Where are you reading from today? I've been reading from my couch, but I'm about to head out to Atlanta Bread Company for a change of scenery and some coffee

  • 3 facts about me … Random, bookish facts -- 1) I feel the need to organize my bookshelves before the baby gets here, 2). I have an urge to drink pots and pots of coffee as reading and coffee are inexplicably entwined, 3).  I'm excited about seeing what everyone else is reading and increasing my TBR pile!

  • How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours? I have 9 books in the pile

  • Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)? I am going to reward each read completed with a book purchase, but I don't have any hard and fast goals.  Basically, I wanted to use this time to read and ENJOY IT!  Forget cooking, work, chores, and my other 500 hobbies and just enjoy reading.  Even if I only get one book completed (like the mammoth Sunne in Splendour) I'll consider the readathon a success!

  • If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time? I'm a newbie!

Good luck during the event. I agree that coffee and reading goes hand-in-hand. I'm cheering you on!

I think you should be excused for the half an hour late start!
Enjoy your reading

Atlanta Bread Company sounds like a good choice. In fact, it may be calling to me today, too.

I look forward to keeping up with your progress. I missed the date this year, so I'm living vicariously through y'all and I'll just be knitting whilst keeping an eye on you.

Hey, maybe that nap was a good thing! Now you'll be nice and perky for awhile. Happy reading :)
