Blogged and Determined (And a Giveaway)

First of all, I am bound and determined to finish all my ABC posts (which were only supposed to last the month of September), participate in my Sunday group reads, blog my Classics Circuit post on the 23rd, AND participate in READATHON on the 22nd of this month.  I'm so bad about starting themed blogger stuff and then dropping off.  I really, really miss my regular blogging.

Expect some changes soon in November. I think I'm going to go to a daily format or some sort of loose schedule.  Then maybe I can post ahead in those pocket of time I squirrel away for blogging instead of spending my time wondering what the heck to write about.

What I'd like from you all (my few brave readers) is a little bit of feedback.  If you wouldn't mind, leave me a comment about what you'd like to see on Fig and Thistle or shoot me an email at amanda.l.addison(at)gmail(dot)com.  Comment or email by 26 October 2011 and you'll be entered to win a gift box from moi.  Of course, I haven't determined what exactly will go in said box.  Let's just say it will contain something bookish, something coffeeish, and something handmade. Please, U.S. folks only (sorry, I'm so poor).  I will draw a winner via random generator on the 26th!

To get your ideas churning in the ole gray matter, here's a list of ideas:

What subjects do you like most and would like to see with regularity?  What do you hate?
  • Book reviews, library loots, and random reading stuff
  • Recipes
  • Crafts
  • Knitting and embroidery
  • Personal / life stuff
  • Mommy stuff
  • Rants
  • Professional stuff -- aka library stuff, particularly about Interlibrary Loan and Resource Sharing
  • Memes and blogger events
  • Challenges (books, weight loss, knitting, etc...)
  • Pintrest boards, items I love, product reviews
  • Blogs and links of interest
  • Health and weight loss
  • Clothes, thrifting, decorating
  • Lists
  • Movie reviews
  • More pictures
  • ANY OTHER IDEAS???
Now time for the disclaimer:  I really want feedback, but in the end this blog is a representation of ME.  This means it will never fit into a niche:  books/mom stuff/baking..... I can't just write about one element in my life.

My recent lack of blogging is because I have TOO MUCH to talk about.  I feel stuck and overwhelmed by all I want to share.  I think having a set theme or loose structure will help me focus all these ideas and words and plans busting outta my brain.

Alright folks, share the love.

i would love to see: more book reviews (i rely on your taste heavily), more recipes (you make great food), pinterest and blog recs, and more crafts. so get on it. since i get to see your kids in person, and text for updates, i'm not asking for more mom things, although your rants are pretty great.

I like it all. Anything to do with books - your library job fascinates me. I also appreciate the personal stuff -from crafts to kids. I think you do a great job keeping it all balanced (both your life and your blog!). Thanks for sharing with us.

I enjoy (and in no particular order of enjoyment): your rants, FOOD PICTURES and recipes, anything related to books/libraries (both yours and mine ;), and of course personal/life stuff, but this list is not exclusive. I appreciate it all! :)

Honestly, I love EVERYTHING about your blog. I find everything you write about to be so interesting, honest, and insightful. It's a treat to open a post and see if you've posted pictures, a recipe, random musings, or book reviews. I love it all and I would not change a thing! Your blog makes me want to restart mine ...except it won't be as cool as yours ;o) Keep working it, girl!!!

I love the blog as it is. I really do.

My favorite topics are books, crafts and recipes, but I do love the family personal stories too :)

I love everything you blog, but my v favourites are: books/library, craftiness, baking, and your kids/mommy stuff. But seriously, that was just me trying to narrow the list down! :)

Okay so of your list what I like most? Reading stuff, recipes, crafts and knitting, personal / mommy stuff. I also love a good list or challenge.

To me, I think the most important thing is just to stay honest and keep including yourself in your posts. There are some niche blogs out there that have HUGE followings, but I just can't get in to them because I feel so distant from the writer, you know? But that's me. All the blogs I love the most are no-niche / memoir with some fun details thrown in there sometimes.

I have to admit, you're one of my favorite reads and I enjoy everything about Fig and Thistle. I love your recipes and baking posts, your crafts, the books, the coffeehouse (I miss mine...it closed down *frown*). Just continue being you. Your blog comes across authentic, and that's what's important, imo.

I really like reading your blog and everything you post, so it's hard to choose what I'd like more of. :) It's always fun to see something a bit more personal than just reviews. Seeing more crafty/food related things is always nice, as well as mommy stuff.

Comfort food recipes! :) Also hilarious stories about your kids. Those are some great kids.

I really like to read your blog, especially the book and crafty portions, but I also enjoy the food and family posts as well.
