Alas, my favorite reading challenge is over. I look forward to Carl's RIP Reading Challenge every year. I love spooky reads from short stories to contemporary fiction to classics and this challenge allows me to indulge in creepy, atmospheric reads. I read 6 books for this challenge. Yay!
Lady Audley's Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon: I loved this classic tail about one crazy, doll-face mama. Although not as good as Wilkie Collins' in my humble opinion, this Victorian sensational novel was quite the page-turner.
The Bad Seed by William March: HOLY CRAP! This book was creepy and ten million times better than the movie. Rhoda is a seemingly sweet, pretty little girl with a penchant for murder. Chilling.
Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman: I was a little bit "meh" about this collection, but not really. Basically I loved the stories I loved and I hated the stories I hated. There was never really an in between. I think the collection is definitely worth a read, but I'd recommend dipping-in on occasion and not reading it straight through.
Locke and Key, volume 1 by Joe Hill: I liked this graphic novel, but it is really just a "dangling carrot" I have no idea what is going on and no idea what may or may not happen, but I know I MUST READ ON!
Clermont by Regina Maria Roche: A classic, florid, ridiculous Gothic Novel. I laughed and I imagined my self a shocked Jane Austen character reading this "horrid novel". What a riot.
The Ruby in the Smoke by Philip Pullman: The first in a young adult mystery series by the author of The Dark Materials Trilogy. I loved this little book and I will certainly be hunting down the other three volumes. The Ruby in the Smoke was a bit like Sherlock Holmes meets The Moonstone meets a Samantha Parkington book (yes, the American Girl doll -- shut-up).
Wow. I just realized that I read in many different genres! Two classics, a modern novel, a short story collection, and YA. Interesting!
I can't wait until next year's RIP challenge!!!

You had a great mix for the challenge. I read Heartshaped Box by Joe Hill, didn't enjoy it thought.
